Groups of users, sometimes referred to as clusters, have been exploited in several works to enhance wireless communications. Leveraging on previous ideas, the main goal of this paper is to take advantage of vehicle grouping in order to reduce uplink signaling in fifth generation (5G) vehicular communications. Several schemes to reduce uplink signaling are proposed and particularized in two specific 5G uses cases: the reporting of Channel Busy Ratio (CBR), and the reporting of beam measurements in beam management procedures. This paper provides an overview of the most recent passive radars based on long-term evolution (LTE). To begin, this paper investigates the various characteristics and requirements of 4 G LTE signals for radar, taking performance aspects such as range, velocity, range resolution, and velocity resolution into account. An ambiguity function analysis is performed on a measured LTE signal using the synchronization and reference signal components to evaluate key performance parameters such as Doppler and range characteristics. Existing tools for the estimation of the end- to-end available bandwidth require control of both end hosts of the path and this significantly limits their usability. In this paper we present ABwProbe, a single-ended tool for available bandwidth estimation against non-cooperative hosts. Although ABwProbe is general enough to be used on any Internet path, we focus our attention on ADSL links exploring the possibility of measuring the downlink available bandwidth of a non-cooperative ADSL host. Most tools designed to estimate the capacity of an Internet path require access on both end hosts of the path, which makes them difficult to deploy and use. In this paper we present a single-sided technique for measuring the capacity without the active cooperation of the destination host, focusing particularly on ADSL links. Compared to current methods used on broadband hosts, our approach generates two orders of magnitude less traffic and is much less intrusive.
